And I find myself going back and forth with him...and then at night when I think about it...I think, wait, I am in charge. And he is only 5! I can't wait for the future. :-)Trishahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01332957175298266297noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2071975121558899968.post-65049663753863545532010-07-21T19:05:26.221-07:002010-07-21T19:05:26.221-07:00Thanks, ladies! Trisha, you are so right in saying they are just trying to see what they can get away with....I tend to be a bit of a hard ass, so I question myself....am I being too rough? Asking too much? I know I probably am not - Mairead has also entered the "negotiation" stage, so, she's always trying to see what she can negotiate with and what she can't.

I am so ready for the girls to clean up better...they definitely have the potential - i've seen them do it!!!

The beverage helped......a lot. :)Stephhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05002937604723118447noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2071975121558899968.post-30968344729605554582010-07-21T15:33:59.571-07:002010-07-21T15:33:59.571-07:00This description could have occurred in our house ...This description could have occurred in our house as well. I think that it has to do with a combination of their ages and their intelligence in figuring out just how much they can possibly get away with. I totally think that you are on the right track with staying as consistent as possible....as well as enjoying a beverage with dinner.Trishahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01332957175298266297noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2071975121558899968.post-23942457090770280152010-07-21T14:25:04.722-07:002010-07-21T14:25:04.722-07:00I just want to encourage you by saying this is a s...I just want to encourage you by saying this is a season. I was really struggling with this when Chiara was 3.5 yr and Mayah 1.5 to 2.5 yr. I rarely have a hard time now. We do "basket cleaning" when things have gotten out of hand-mostly due to the tornado named Leah! Today though they had to do a hardcore cleaning in the toy room so I could vacuum. No complaints or problems. This is new though. Mayah still struggles here and there, but nothing like what it used to be. You are right....consistent. If you say something mean it. If you have consequences follow through...even when that means you may miss out. Those times have spoken volumes to both the girls. Just think....you will get them where they need to be and Clara will come to that age....the tornado age!!! :)The D'Amato Familyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17914473605897795090noreply@blogger.com
